The collar also can detect the body heat of the cow to increase how accurate its readings are. After the collar processes all the data it sends a text message to the farmer updating him on his cows conditions. Soon farmers will be able to monitor how there cows are doing through their cell phones. The farmers will not lose as many cows because they will always be monitored by the collar and alerted if anything goes wrong. "Not only can this development help to save the farmer money, it can also help to keep food affordable," says David Evans the head of agriculture at British food. In my opinion this is the future of farming.

"Smart Cows"
People are always finding new ways to incorporate technology in our lives. Technology makes life simpler for us. One new devise that makes people's lives easier is a "smart collar". The collar is meant to help farmers keep tabs on their live stock. This is a two point two million dollar project funded by the University of Strathclyde in the UK. The collar has the same 3D sensors as the ones used in the Wii controllers. A sign that a cow might be sick is when it lowers its head. The way this collar works is it monitors the cows head position.

Mooo!! hahaha Great blog Pancho, this is a smart way to keep a tab on your livestock.
ReplyDeleteFrancisco, I agree with you. This is the future for farming. I think this will help reduce the number of infected and deadly cow meat. Like for example "the mad cow disease".
ReplyDeleteThey should add this collar thing on farmville.Just kidding. But it's interesting how farmers can know how their cows are doing by the position of the cow's head.
ReplyDeleteThis is awesome, now that with this technology it will make our food much more affordable. Now only if they can make one for pigs, so the bacon can be affordable as well.
ReplyDeleteI THINK TECHNOLOGY IS BAD BUT AT LEAST IS HELPING SOMEONE GOOD ARTICAL. NICEEEE!!!!
